Floods of the Big Blue:Community through Adversity


Learn the history of the Big Blue River, from the beginning with the Otoe/Missouria Tribe, to the founding of the county. Also learn about the river flooding many times between 1897-1973.See how the communities of this county came together through pictures and documents.The summer exhibit will go through September 30, 2023.

August 10th- 

Movie presentation of “Abandoned: The Untold Story of the Orphan Trains” Produced by Michael Keene. The movie is 45 minutes long. 

With a 15-minute presentation of orphan trains through Wymore and the rest of Gage County by Cassandra Dean Executive Director at GCHS.

Filley Stone Barn Preservation Project 

We are preserving the Filley Stone Barn and building an outdoor classroom to be able to hold summer history camps at the barn. We are $1,000 shy of being able to get the mason work done on the barn. If you would like to donate to this project, please give the museum a call.
